Boston was absolutely extraordinary. Each morning while we were there, I would sit down with a cup of coffee and scribble a few words to describe our experience…
“Moments. Savor them. Every single one. Moments in the airport, stressful moments, joyful moments, moments getting lost, paying tolls. Finding a place you were looking for, finding a place you weren’t looking for. Grateful. Late night drives through tunnels in a new city. Losing GPS so you learn for the next time. Doughnuts… life-changing doughnuts. Gorgeous brownstones on idyllic streets that you fantasize about buying. Sights that you recognize from the big screen. People who hear different beats than you and dance unapologetically. Accents. Different languages. Overcast days, sunny days. Quiet mornings with hotel coffee, exciting mornings with coffee from a bustling coffee shop. Ducking into a fascinating museum on a rainy day in Cambridge and spending all day getting lost in the mysteries of the world. Sitting on the steps of a Harvard dormitory and listening to the students studying for an exam. Ordering dishes you cannot pronounce from unbelievably good restaurants and savoring every bite… food so delicious it almost brings tears to your eyes. Reading a classic, then visiting an outdoor bookshop and buying another classic for $5 that someone held in 1896. No moments wasted. Finding a new home in a new city…. leaving changed.”
Boston, we won’t be able to stay away long… you were captivating.
